Pakistan and Bangladesh are going head-to-head in Match 31 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Tuesday, 31st October at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
After choosing to bat first, Bangladesh were dismissed for 204 in 45.1 overs, with Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr each claiming three wickets.
During their innings, a comical incident unfolded on the field when Pakistan's wicketkeeper, Mohammad Rizwan, inquired Taskin Ahmed whether he had made contact with the ball before deciding to challenge the umpire's decision.
The incident occurred on the first delivery of the 43rd over, bowled by Shaheen Afridi, as Taskin attempted to flick the ball, but it grazed his pad and was collected by Rizwan behind the stumps. Afridi and Rizwan promptly appealed for a caught-behind, which was initially rejected by the on-field umpire.
Subsequently, they sought the opinion of their captain, Babar Azam, to review the decision. The Pakistan wicketkeeper even amusingly consulted with Taskin to ascertain whether he had made contact with the ball, a moment that left commentator Ravi Shastri in stitches.
